I worked with the team on the prototype demo in 2024, and then again providing some illustration for the alpha in 2026.For the demo, I did a concept design then the final illustration for the cooking encounter background and props. For the alpha, I illustrated the dialogue sprite for Gumiho and 4 frames for a cutscene.

This project was for my honours year of my concept design degree. Growing up loving Pokemon, I set out to develop a creature collector. THE MYST is a mysterious world of spirits, secrets and ambiguity.

Conspiracy Theory Editorial Illustration

I was tasked to create an editorial illustration based on a conspiracy theory from a list of theories to choose from. I chose the theory that Queen Elizabeth was actually a cannibal.Upon researching the history of this theory, I discovered the history in the royal family and the wealthiest of England has in ‘corpse medicine’ - the idea that ‘like heals like’. If you’ve lost blood, you drink blood of a human. If you have a headache, powder a human skull and drink it in your wine - something Charles II famously did.Alphonse Mucha, an art nouveau artist who aimed to depict women as beautiful, was a heavy inspiration. Here I have used his print, ‘The Zodiac’, as a pastiche. I replaced the zodiacs symbols with food and guts to symbolise the queen’s supposed sameness between the two, and the background of flowers is instead the pile of bones of the humans the queen has ‘consumed’.My illustration honours historical stained-glass depiction of the rulers of England. I used this real-life homage to honour the real history of the royal family in consuming humans for medicine. Stained-glass portraits tend to be reserved for the figureheads, while also portraying fragility and are especially created when the ruler has passed away. I wanted to honour the Queens recent death. I used the Queen’s side portrait from NZ coins to further push her representation of perfection. My approach for this illustration was an intended to be a delicate portrayal that reveals horror the further you look and hidden behind the figurehead, a recipe typical for mega corporations or people in power, especially within conspiracy theories.Both in Mucha’s work and the Queen herself are often depicted alongside flowers. In English high society, especially around the Gregorian era, bouquets andd flowers come with meaning and representations. Here, the queen is holding Begonias, Belladonna and Tiger Lillies. The flowers mean beware, bittersweet truth and wealth & pride, respectively. In my interpretation, this bouquet means “beware the bittersweet truth of the royal family.” The bouquet is another element of a beautiful portray with horror hidden beneath.

Sticker Project

I created these characters and stickers to complete a bucket list item: run a sticker stall, just once. Through the power of teamwork, a friend with a cricut, the sticker stall was a success.
